SCHOLARSHIPS

  • For the LIFE and SC HOPE scholarships, students must:
    • maintain a 3.0 LIFE GPA (includes any college credit class taken within or outside of Anderson University).
    • earn an average of 30 credit hours by the end of their first academic year (includes any college credit class taken within or outside of Anderson University–including AP, IB, Dual Enrollment, and CLEP).
  • For the Palmetto Fellows scholarship, students must:
    • maintain a 3.0 Institutional GPA (includes only classes taken at Anderson University).
    • earn 30 credit hours each academic year (AP, IB, Dual Enrollment, and CLEP cannot count towards this requirement).
  • For the SC Tuition Grant (Need-based), students must:
    • maintain a 2.0 GPA.
    • earn 24 credit hours.
    • complete the FAFSA each year to confirm “in need” status.

The SC HOPE scholarship is only offered for the first academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Any student receiving this scholarship who meets the criteria stated above for the SC LIFE scholarship throughout their first academic year will be moved up to the LIFE scholarship level in the beginning of their second academic year.

Yes! Each incoming freshman is automatically awarded the highest level of our merit-based scholarships that he or she qualifies for. The scholarship levels and their qualifications can be found here.

  • There are two kinds of scholarships that Anderson University funds:
    • Merit-based: you do not need to apply for these! You only need to meet the academic requirements listed here. You will automatically be given the highest level that you qualify for.
    • Competitive: you will need to apply for these! Some are based on academic requirements and are by invitation only, while others are based on different criteria. More information can be found on our scholarships page here.

Yes! These scholarships are based on a student’s GPA and test scores or class ranking. The deadline to submit documents that meet these requirements is March 1 the spring before your entry term.

Absolutely! The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships must calculate all sources of aid to determine your overall financial assistance. You can report these by providing a letter from the scholarship source to our office.

Yes! Anderson University offers an out of state grant ($3,000) for students who deposit prior to the deadline (April 1.) Out of State grants are limited so funding may not last to April 1.

Yes! Our transfer scholarship is awarded to first-time transfers based on cumulative college GPA. More details can be found here.

FAFSA

March 1 is the priority filing deadline for the FAFSA. Any students who complete the FAFSA after this date may be subject to reductions in funding.

The FAFSA must be completed every year in which the student wishes to apply for financial aid. Anderson University requires each student (U.S. Citizen) to complete the FAFSA.

WORK STUDY

Students awarded Work Study will get information in July regarding the offices on campus that may have positions available. Students can also search for jobs in the job book available in the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. The Career Planning and Professional Development Office also has a listing of jobs off campus for those students not participating in the Work Study program.

FINANCIAL AID/PAYMENT OPTIONS

This can be done through your financial aid portal. The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships must first receive the results of your FAFSA form in order to process your federal financial aid. Typically, freshmen awards begin early March.

We have several options for payment. First, the balance can be paid in a lump sum when final bills are posted in students’ financial aid portals. Second, we have a flexible payment plan option that is interest free. There are 6, 5, and 4 month options with this plan. A registration fee is required.

Many of our scholarships and grants have minimum GPA requirements. Of course there are many variables in determining whether a student’s financial aid will change. These variables are GPA, SAI (determined by the FAFSA), completion date of the FAFSA, residency status, etc.

You can apply for financial aid before you are accepted to the University. However, we cannot make an official award offer to you until you are accepted.

Any federal loans and Pell Grant are applied for through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.) New loan borrowers must also complete a Master Promissory Note. Master Promissory Notes are completed online at studentaid.gov. Students need to use the pin # they used when submitting the FAFSA.

Anderson University maintains appropriate educational records for each student and assures the confidentiality of such records consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 and the guide developed by the Committee of Records Management and Transcripts Adequacy of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Offers (AACRAO.) Student records are confidential and will be released to persons outside the college only on the written request of the student.
You can fill out the request in your Workday portal.

REGISTRATION

Full time students must enroll in and maintain 12 hours per semester to remain a full-time student. Many state, federal, and University scholarships are contingent on the student remaining a full-time student.

Incoming students will receive their class schedule after attending a Base Camp Orientation session. These sessions take place in June & July before the academic semester begins. Students entering in a spring semester will attend Base Camp Orientation in January. You will receive more information from your Admission Counselor when registration for these sessions becomes available.

Schedules are typically released during the first week of March. Cost for summer school is usually half the cost of the per credit hour charge during the fall and spring semesters.
